Skincare Travel Essentials

It’s that time of year – busy travel season! 2017 has been a huge travel year for me. I flew on my own for the first time in January and now it’s December and I’ve been on 10+ solo trips. It’s so addictive and I think it’s so important to take every chance you can get to see somewhere new. Just 6 weeks ago I was in Seattle, 4 weeks ago in Oklahoma, one week ago in Chicago, and at the end of this week I’ll be in Steamboat, CO!

When preparing to pack all of your toiletries, I’m definitely someone who tends to take their whole bathroom. BAD IDEA. Not only are there so many TSA rules and guidelines now, it’s such a hassle to pack and unpack. So, I wanted to share with you my three key skincare items I always take with me on vacations, business trips, getaway with friends, etc.

A mild cleanser.
This one from Lush is such a staple. It’s for sensitive skin, which I have BIG TIME. It’s so soothing and moisturizing, I use it everyday. It’s also a solid bar soap which fits perfectly in this Lush container, so it’s super easy to travel with and you won’t have to worry about it spilling in your suitcase or TSA confiscating it from you.

A refreshing toner.
You need something that’s going to balance out all of the crazy different environments your skin will be trying to balance while traveling. All of the germs, pollution, and gunk that your skin encounters while traveling can clogs pores, throwing your skin’s pH balance all out of whack. Personally, I hate dealing with cotton pads and bottles of products that can spill easily or are so much of a hassle, so this quick facial spray bottle helps me out so much. I spray about 4 pumps on my face each use. It’s quick, easy, and refreshing. This toner from Lush has so many great qualities. Tea tree is amazing for your skin when it comes to acne and the grapefruit water will assure your skin stays bright and fresh. It’s seriously my favorite part of my skincare routine and it feels like a mini facial in a bottle.

A fast-acting spot treatment.
While using good products on your skin everyday is important, and remembering to NEVER sleep with makeup on (which is so hard to stick to after a long day of traveling or a night of partying) is so important, sometimes you still get those annoying blemishes that pop up in what seems like overnight. But, luckily there’s something you can do to make them go away literally OVERNIGHT. This Mario Badescu drying lotion is such a lifesaver. If I feel a blemish coming on, you know one of those that’s deep under the skin that you know will be so sore in the morning, I’ll dot this over the area. You’ll look a little bit crazy, so warn the person you’re sleeping next to! I wake up in the morning and the spot is significantly smaller, if not completely gone! Kylie Jenner introduced this to the world and since I’ve seen her use it, it’s become a holy grail product for me too!

While millions of products will claim to do certain things, the most important part of skincare is to stick to a routine and stay CLEAN! When I travel I try not to touch my face without washing my hands, never sleep with makeup on, and drinks LOTS and LOTS of water!

I hope you all love these products as much as I do. Let me know your favorite skincare products in your everyday routines or for when you travel!

See ya next time & thanks for reading!

How To: Mixing Feminine & Edgy

It’s officially my favorite time of year for fashion! The fall and winter seasons give you so many options to mix and match, pair together, and create so many new looks. When the weather turns colder, I aim for warmth and versatility. My signature style is a great pair of jeans and a leather jacket, so don’t be too surprised if you see that in many blog and Instagram posts to come. Personally, it’s super hard to find both that will fit me like a glove. I’m so short that jeans that hug me in all the right places are such a hassle to shop for, and finding a leather jacket that works with my short arms and torso seems to be impossible. BUT, I have found BOTH! These jeans are my go-to’s right now. Surprisingly, they’re from Abercrombie. Throwback to 6th grade, right?! And as for this leather jacket, I found this beauty at Zara. I absolutely love Zara but there’s not a single one in Colorado so I always take advantage of it when I travel to cities that do have it.

Ok, so I’m sure you read the title and are wondering how I mix my lightweight, girly pieces with these other more edgy pieces. Well honestly, it’s all about balance. For example, I paired this white eyelet top with these jeans and leather jacket. But in order to balance out the daintiness of the top, I chose a casual white sneaker to balance out the color and feel. If I were to wear this outfit with a combat boot or even any black shoe, I feel like the blouse would get lost. I also grabbed my vintage Burberry bag that adds a feminine touch as well, while still keeping the look neutral and cool. But overall, my biggest tip for a look like this is just to keep it simple. Neutrals are always a fool-proof way to combine pieces that you wouldn’t think would go together. Don’t bother with clashing colors and wondering what goes with what, stick to the basics – black, white, and denim.

Alright, outfits details time! My Abercrombie jeans can be found here. My Zara leather jacket is no longer carried but a similar one can be found here. My Gap top is found here. Like I said, my Burberry bag is vintage (thank you Grandma!) but a similar one can be found online here. Finally, my classic Adidas can be found here.

Til next time,

Saturday’s Golden Hour & Sunflower Fields

Wow y’all, long time no see. With quite a bit of time off, many adventures in-between, and a few bumps along the way, I have finally decided to start blogging again. While a blog post telling you all about where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing would be pretty lengthy (soon to come), I want to kick off this relaunch with a super cute, super fall themed blog post. I’ve found it hard to make time to get out and shoot outfits or even just working up the courage to carry my camera around with me. BUT, one of my besties (thank you Alex!!) and I ventured out to our local pumpkin patch and sunflower field literally the night before our first snow (which killed all of the sunflowers the next day 🙁 ).

So, the fall season is in full swing here in colorful Colorado. I’m such a summer girl at heart, I love the warmth and days on the lake and being tan. But honestly, nothing compares to the colors during fall-time in Colorado. Luckily, it hasn’t gotten too too cold yet in CO, other than getting one day of snow a few weeks ago. Long sleeves with a cute skirt or jeans with an adorable blouse are the perfect options. However, I have recently re-discovered my love for overalls. Whether it’s actual overalls, an overall dress, or anything in-between, I’m completely OBSESSED. Another one of my recent obsessions is bandanas. My friends always tease me because I was wearing them as shirts when going out on weekends, but that’s not always appropriate for a trip to the pumpkin patch. However, it looks ADORABLE tied around your neck like a scarf. I paired this overall dress and bandana with a flow-y white blouse. It adds a bit of flare and shape to the outfit, along with a girly touch. To finish it all of, I paired this look with my matte green Hunter boots. These things are my go-to for the fall and winter months – they last through any weather and are super cute! Especially the hunter green color, it surprisingly goes with everything! You can find these Hunter boots at Nordstrom, my white blouse at Gap, my overall dress at H&M, and the bandana at any craft/fabric store. IT’S THAT SIMPLE.

Enough of me talking, let’s take a look.

Thanks so much for reading, I can’t wait to share more with you all.

Until next time folks,

Holiday Party Attire

Seasons Greetings! Hope you all are ready for the holiday season. I’m SO excited to bring you this outfit today. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for holiday parties. Whether it’s a family dinner, drinks with friends, or a neighborhood potluck – you can’t go wrong with this outfit. One of my favorite things to do is pair a button down shirt with a dress on top. It’s so unique and unexpected! I used to do this all the time and would receive so many compliments about looking so classy! I just had to bring it back. Black and white is always a good way to go. Pair it with a red lip and you’ve completed the look.

I wish you all the best and enjoy the holidays! More to come soon.

My Fave Flannel

Y’all! It’s finals week here at Colorado State University! Just wanted to say good luck to all of you students out there. You’ve worked hard all semester and now it’s time to demonstrate your knowledge. Finals can be so stressful, I know exactly how you feel. Microeconomics is kicking my butt this semester.  I know, I know; I should be studying my market failure notes, but I thought I would take a break from the textbooks and show you my all time favorite flannel in the meantime.  Now, I feel like this post is very fitting for this week. This is my go-to, running-around-campus look. Flannels are SO versatile. I have worn this one to DEATH. Whether it’s layered with a cute vest and leggings, or tied around my waist, it’s definitely a crowd pleaser. The amount of “that’s the perfect flannel, where’d you get it?!” questions/compliments I’ve received is insane. I highly suggest picking one up.

The Cold Shoulder

If you’ve followed any fashion bloggers, own a Pinterest account, or even go on social media – you know off-the-shoulder tops are totally in style at the moment. Everyone styles them differently, but this is how I like to do it.

Off-the-shoulder tops definitely make a statement.  If you want to turn heads, it’s important to do it the right way. For me, it’s all about balance.  Showing just the right amount of skin is essential to mastering this look. You’re showing some skin up top, so maybe take the conservative route on your bottom half (aka no booty shorts please). Even though shoulders aren’t necessarily considered super “sexy”, it’s still bare skin. It’s a more subtle form of sexy.

I like to pair my off-the-shoulder tops with basics. A great pair of jeans, simple heels, and some pretty and girlly jewelry. If your top has a lot of detail, let it speak for itself.

This top is from Banana Republic. The tie details on the sleeves make it so cute!  I paired it with my ALL TIME FAVORITE DENIM.  These are Gap’s Selvedge Denim. Look out for an upcoming post on my favorite denim.

Simple accessories make this outfit look polished and classic. My watch is Michael Kors, the bracelet is Kate Spade, and the earrings are Banana Republic. The perfect shoe for this look was the Stacy Heel by Steve Madden, so I went with that in nude.

Hope you all enjoyed this post. This has got to be one of my favorite outfits of the summer.

See you soon,

Getting Back Into It…

Greetings everyone!

I know I have been MIA for quite some time now. I’m very sorry about this break, but as my second semester of college got busier and busier, school and work had to become my first priority. With my first year of college under my belt, I am so thrilled to be home for the summer, visiting with family, and enjoying the warm weather.

I would really love to get back into posting on here. Photography is a huge passion of mine and that’s where I pull most of my inspiration for my posts from. Now that I have more free time, I’ll be able to dedicate more time to this website.

So with all of that being said, here is a recent outfit I would like to share with you all.

If you know me, you know I LOVE a good printed pant. Don’t trust me? Here‘s one of my very first blog posts that includes another great pair of wild pants. I got these floral pants at Banana Republic (they’re still available!! Get them here). Now, since these pants are so wild, I wanted to pair a chambray top with them. I seriously have SO many chambrays. Like, it’s bad.

Now, I understand that some of you may be intimidated by these pants and wonder what shoes would I ever wear with something like that?? For night outs go with a nude sandal, like these Steve Madden ones. Not only will this shoe go with everything, it won’t distract from the pants! But for the colder months or maybe if you’re transitioning into fall? I love my Hunter Boots. The green color in the boots brings out the green leaves in the pants. with VSCO with f2 preset with VSCO with f2 preset with VSCO with f2 preset

My bracelet and ring are both from Banana Republic! My watch is Michael Kors.

I love this look! What do you all think? Let me know what other posts you’d like to see.

New Year, New Look

Happy New Year! We all know what that means… Out with the old and in with the new! For me, that meant a new style. I am about to start my second semester of college and it was time to revamp my look. Therefore, I traded in the blazer and flats for a leather jacket and Vans. Now, I LOVE this new look. It’s so cool and edgy, which is a totally new world to me. The New Year is a great time to start fresh and change up your look.

PS, Like the nose piercing? 😉

The Best Booties

The holidays are approaching and now is the time to shop, shop, shop! These Toms booties are so adorable. I’m not the biggest fan of Toms (however, I do love their promise of giving away a pair of shoes to someone in need for every shoe purchased) but I fell IN LOVE with these the second I saw them. I purchased mine at Nordstrom. with VSCOcam with f2 preset
It was a tough decision, but the Toms booties are SO comfortable. The heel is the perfect size!

Here are some more options that I have found.

Happy shopping and I will be posting again soon!

The Typical College Outfit – Outfit of the Day

Wow, I can’t even believe I’m almost a month into school. Time really does fly when you’re having fun.

I met up with my good friend Jack Savoie (writer of The Savoie Daily, it’s also his birthday today… Happy Birthday Jack!) He kindly helped me out with these photos as I can’t have my little brother up here at school to help me shoot. Good job Jack and I miss you Carson! Jack and I adventured out to our favorite spot on campus, The Oval. The rows of trees and old buildings make our architect-loving minds crazy ; we’re so obsessed with it.

So, I’m ALL ABOUT comfort. Especially when I’m walking around from class to class. Even though it’s September, it’s still hot here at Colorado State University. A t-shirt dress is my go-to nowadays. It’s so easy to pair with any kind of shoe and jewelry. Stripes are also a long-time favorite of mine (obviously from my other posts). How can you not love this dress? The best part? It’s a KID’S dress. That’s right, an Old Navy Kid’s dress. How lucky am I to be so small? Of course you’ll be able to find similar adult options, many people aren’t 4’11” like me.

The outfit details are listed below, I hope you all enjoyed my outfit of the day!

Shoes: Tory Burch

Leather Tassel Necklace: Banana Republic

Gold Necklace: Kate Spade

Watch: Michael Kors
